Our 2nd Totalled Car of the Year

Last Friday night I was at home making cookies with my friend Jess...The boys (our husbands) were in Warsaw coaching a Varsity football game. All of a sudden Jess and I heard a crash...We finally realized it was coming from outside and went out the front door. The scene before use was this...

Apparently a silver Jeep Liberty had SMASHED into the front of my PARKED car. As Jess and I walked out the door of my house and saw this scene, we also saw a man running down the alley, away from the scene of the accident. The next problem we encountered was the location of Jess's car. Originally she was parked right behind me...when we came out of the house, her car was nowhere to be seen. We thought it was stolen! Turns out, her car had been hit by my car and rolled 100 feet down the street!

The back of my car...The front of Jess's car..
How far away from my house Jess's car rolled...

How close Jess's car was from hitting the next car on the street...

Turns out that they car that hit us was driven by a drunk driver...and it was stolen! Here are some more pictures of the damages...

They caught the driver who fled the scene...he is being charged with theft. Our car ended up being totalled, and so did Jess's. We are both getting new cars!

With the help of a few of our 'boys', we started working on our patio. We dug out a section of grass in front of our pond and started making a patio.

We had this much of the patio finished, when we got a call on a Saturday in June...we had a showing the following Wednesday. We HAD to get the patio finished! The problem was each day was over 90 degrees...We got it done!

It's been a while!

It's been about 2 months since my last post! In the mean time, we've been pretty busy! Eric finished up school, and three weeks later, so did I!

Eric and two of his students (former now since they graduated this year) came to my field day at school. I had to run the fourth leg of a 4 x 100m race. Three of my fastest students gave me a huge lead against the other 4 teachers that I was racing against.

I pulled ahead, but ended up coming in second! The teacher that beat me had loooong legs :)

We've also been going to A LOT of graduation parties (16 so far). A few of Eric's former students (We call them "the boys") have been hanging out at our house a lot. We roped them into helping with making a patio in our backyard. A few weeks ago they helped us redo our landscaping pond. When our patio is finished, I'll be putting up pics.

Here is the pond after being remulched.

Here is a pic of the bucket fountain. Patio pics will be coming soon.

"I'm a REAL boy, I mean, Teacher!"

I got my email from the state saying I passed my teaching portfolio. After two years of teaching third grade, I get to be a "real" licensed teacher now. I thought after turning it in a few weeks ago a weight would be lifted off my shoulder, but all I did was worry about if I had attached everything and did everything they asked. When I got my email on Wednesday, I felt sick to my stomach. I was so glad when I opened it and saw the words "Congratulations" Then the weight was lifted off my shoulders. All I have to do now is send in for an updated license! Good luck to all those teachers who still have to submit :)

Pseudo Pregnant Puppy

Well, Lila had an ear infection a couple weeks ago, and Eric was taking her in for a check up this last week. I asked Eric to talk to the vet about something we had noticed with Lila. So Eric asked the vet why Lila's teets seemed to be filling out like she was going to have puppies. The vet then informs Eric that our poor 1 year old puppy is pseudo-pregnant. Meaning....she THINKS she's pregnant, so her body prepares for puppies. So our dog is crazy. She has started building a nest for her imaginary puppies. After doing some research, we found out that her hormones are raging and tells her that she needs to prepare for pups. When she has her puppies, I'll make sure to post it, and put up fliers. Will anyone want one?

Getting started

I've been wanting to start a blog for quite some time, but haven't had the time. Since we don't live by any of our families, I hope this helps keep in touch with some of them. Eric is at a wrestling meet tonight, so I have a little time to get this started!

Eric and I have been pretty busy with high school sports and trying to sell our house. Eric is finishing up middle school wrestling and is right now at their conference meet. One of the worst thing about wrestling is how long meets last. Eric doesn't plan on getting home til late tonight.

We had two showings on our house last week after a really long spell of no showings. Both couples that visited seemed to like the house, but are just starting to look at houses. The housing market is really bad in Nappanee right now with the economy and all. We thrive on the RV industry up here and well, that's not going well. Anyway, we are hoping one of the two couples likes our house. We have an offer that was accepted on a house in September. It is closer to my school, which means less of a drive for me each day! Our offer expired in January on this house, and the owners took the hosue off the market, but they said they would still sell to us if our house sells.

Our Rottweiler puppy Lila is about a year old. She is getting fat and sassy! She weighs about 90 lbs now. She gets so excited when Eric comes home every day, but just looks at me, waiting on me to feed her. She is a very smart dog. She can sit, speak, and go "bang bang" which means we pretend to shoot her, and she rolls over on her back. She also knocks on the door when she is ready to come inside! I'm not a dog person, but I don't think I would trade her in :).

Well, Grey's Anatomy is on, and Eric is on his way home, so I'll wrap up this first post!
